Resumen

  • Dr. Luanne Stevens, Fellow at the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI), explained what a GHG inventory is and why it is important, the importance of data, what the agriculture emissions are and how important they are, narrowing down to the agriculture emissions in the Caribbean and explaining the importance of soil in sequestering carbon. Dr. Stevens discusses the data requirements for inventories, data collection challenges in the Caribbean, best practices in GHG inventory data collection, as well as the requirements under the agriculture readiness project  'Strengthening the Foundation for a Climate Responsive Agricultural Sector in the Caribbean' which was funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and implemented in nine  (9) CARCOM countries to support data collection activities including the development of a regional data collection framework, a regional improvement report and training and awareness building around data collection.
