Duties and Responsibilities Technical Manager In collaboration with the UK Supermarkets, developed and managed bespoke packaging that maintained the quality of the Windwards bananas supplied to them. Assessed and implemented standards for banana pack houses in the UK in-keeping with food safety standards and the British Retail Consortium (BRC) standards. Duties and Responsibilities Quality Manager: Developed and managed a quality based payments system using the Quality Consistency Approach which was used by WIBDECO UK as a tool for rewarding good performing banana farmers from the exporting countries. Duties and Responsibilities Fruit Quality Officer Managed a banana quality driven systems (Quality Assurance and Quality Determination) that improved the quality of bananas exported from the Windward Islands to the United Kingdom. The Grenada Banana Co-operative Society (GBCS), 1990. Duties and Responsibilities Chief Extension Officer Managed the extension division of the Grenada Banana Cooperative So Derek Charles is currently the National Specialist at the IICA Office in Grenada. He holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural and Rural Development from The University of the West Indies. He has a number of years experience working with small farmers; developing their production, post-harvest handling and marketing. He also has ten years experience working closely with the major Supermarkets in the United Kingdom in the areas of quality control and technical development of bananas from the Windward Islands.
