Enabling the business of agriculture 2016: comparing regulatory good practices- Book uri icon

Resumen

  • Agriculture and the business created by it are major sources of income and employment for a large share of the world’s people. Vital for food security and poverty reduction, the business of agriculture affects rural livelihoods everywhere. Growing food demands call for greater attention to strategies to develop the business of agriculture. Indeed, meeting the rising food demand of a global population expected to reach 9 billion people by 2050 is a major challenge — even more so in the face of increasingly adverse natural conditions.1 The evolution of urban food demand in developing regions illustrates the need for agricultural value chains and institutional settings that are both more efficient and more effective.
