Biological control and chemical ecology of T. solanivora, Spodoptera frugiperda and Bemisia tabaci at the Colombian Corporation of Agricultural Research- Conference Poster uri icon

Resumen

  • The Chemical Ecology Group of the Center for Biotechnology and Bioindustry at the Colombian Corporation for Agricultural Research has been working on developing semiochemical control strategies for the Guatemalan Potato Moth, Tecia solanivora for the past ten years. Prior research in this area has led to the characterization of a three component sexual pheromone which has proven to be promising for the development of mating disruption (MD) strategies and formulations have been developed by Shin-Etsu (Japan) and Chemtica (Costa Rica). Although both of these formulations have proven to be effective under laboratory conditions, they have yet to be tested in storage and field conditions. This information is crucial in order to provide viable recommendations for the efficient use of this technology to potato growers.
