Chantal Landburg has a background in Environmental Science (BSc. 2007) and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (MSc. 2014) with over 14 years of experience in the environmental sector in Suriname. She has worked as an environmental consultant for the past 9 years as project developer and manager, environmental (desk and field) assessments including biodiversity, water quality, social and legislative studies, and Environmental Impact Assessments. In her career she has worked with and coordinated national and international teams of experts in projects for (multi)national private sector clients (Iamgold, Newmont, Suralco, Staatsolie, Telesur), national and international organizations (UNDP, IDB, WWF-Guianas, Conservation International, Green Heritage Fund Suriname, Small Grants Programme Suriname, REDD+, ITP organizations), and the Government of Suriname (Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Ministry of Spatial Planning and environment). Furthermore, she has eight years of experience in teaching future teachers. Classes included basic chemistry, general and Suriname ecology, as well as environmental science. She also supervises students' thesis research. Lastly she is co-founder and Treasurer of foundation EnviroART which is set up to form a framework for informed decision making for management of natural resources through awareness, research and training.
