Webinar organized by the PROCINORTE Plant Health Task Force focused on advances in RNA interference (RNAi) technology for managing pests, diseases, and weeds in North American horticultural crops. The event examined the use of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) molecules for selective gene silencing of pathogens such as Fusarium Head Blight and their potential as cost-effective sprayable biopesticides. It also addressed strategies to enhance RNA stability and delivery through nanotechnology (nanoparticles, clays, surfactants), root absorption treatments, and the regulatory and field performance challenges of this biotechnological innovation.
