Forestry education in British Columbia has never been better. UBC’s forest education is keeping pace with changing social values and an increasingly knowledge-based forest sector.

UBC Forestry is turning out a new generation of foresters. As of Sept 2016, approximately 1020 undergraduate students and 260 graduate students are enrolled at the Faculty. View all Faculty of Forestry statistics in our annual report.

Programs offered are progressive and timely. Today’s students not only learn about topics like the biology of trees, innovative wood products and forest engineering, they are taught about ecological and cultural issues related to the forest. Students learn to use the latest technology available to manage forests thoughtfully and efficiently.

Faculty are committed to meeting future challenges in forestry through in-depth, cutting edge research. In fact, UBC Forestry receives the highest level of forestry research funding of any forestry faculty in Canada.

The Faculty is housed on UBC’s spectacular campus in the beautiful Forest Sciences Centre.

Off-campus facilities include two Research Forests: the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest in Maple Ridge and the Alex Fraser Research Forest near Williams Lake.

UBC Forestry is a member of the Association of University Forestry Schools of Canada.
