Resumen
- The agriculture sector is crucial for Belize's economy, contributing approximately $590 million annually and employing 17.9% of the population. The sector faces challenges such as climate change, natural resource management, and food safety demands. The main objective of this project is to promote investment and increase productivity while ensuring competitiveness, quality production, trade, and sustainability. Available data shows the use of Climate Smart Agriculture and Climate Resilient Agriculture strategies such as livestock development, resilient production systems, enabling policies, strategic frameworks, and value-added production. The strategies are supported by government incentives, private sector investment, and donor community support.
