Swine Research Technology Centre of UAlberta Research Organization uri icon

On behalf of the University of Alberta and its partners in swine research, welcome to the Swine Research and Technology Centre (SRTC). The SRTC, completed in February 2002, is the consolidation of swine-based research programs that were previously housed in 8 different buildings on 2 separate sites, including the previous Sinclair Swine Research Unit. The $5.2M of funding for the SRTC included contributions from a variety of governmental and industry supporters, most notably $1M from Alberta Pork on behalf of the pork producers of Alberta.

Major infrastructure grants were received from Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (AAFRD) Animal Industry Division, Intellectual Infrastructure Partnership Program (IIPP) funding from Alberta Innovation and Science and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. Crucial industry partner funding came from numerous sources supporting the project: DGH Engineering, Feed-Rite, Genex Swine, Gowans Feed Consulting, Intervet USA, Lonzagroup, Pfizer Animal Health, Prairie Rim Manufacturing, and Wyeth Animal Health
