Resumen

  • The video presents contributions from an international workshop organized by PROCINORTE with IICA support, focused on ex-situ and in-situ conservation approaches and the sustainable use of maize genetic resources in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. It highlights maize as a strategic global crop, emphasizing Mexico as its center of origin and biodiversity. The workshop also addressed challenges such as the erosion of native varieties, the need for participatory breeding, and youth inclusion in agriculture, while incorporating perspectives on cacao’s genetic diversity and the development of sustainable, circular food systems.
