Established in November 2002, the Human Nutrition Research Unit (HNRU) is a state of the art research and training center at the University of Alberta that facilitates and supports nutrition research in Western Canada. We are committed to improving the health of Canadians through innovative, world-class research programs.
The major activities of the HNRU include:
Comprehensive nutritional and metabolic assessment for research studies investigating adult and child health-related concerns including diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity.
Coordination of nutrition research programs to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent chronic diseases.
Coordination of nutrition research seminars to provide current nutrition information for scientists, clinicians, policy makers, and other health-related professionals.
Provision of information to the public and the media regarding nutrition research at the University of Alberta, and other nutrition topics of interest.
