De Salvo, Carmine Paolo

Agricultural economist and rural development specialist focused on the design, financing, and implementation of policies and investments that strengthen agricultural productivity, competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience. At the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), I lead the Agrimonitor initiative, monitoring and analyzing agricultural policies across Latin America and the Caribbean.

My work combines public policy and investment with private sector development and finance mobilization, identifying constraints to investment, strengthening access to finance, and designing instruments and partnerships that leverage public and development finance to crowd in private capital across agriculture and food systems.

Currently focused primarily on Argentina and Uruguay, I have previously worked across Haiti, Central America, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Africa. My broader interests lie at the intersection of agricultural economics, development finance, innovation, and public-private collaboration to create more productive, resilient, and inclusive rural economies.
