Chris is an international development practitioner and leader with over 15 years' experience in multilateral negotiations and global project/program management in both the public and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to joining Veterinarians Without Borders, Chris served as Country Director for Cuso International in Nigeria. In 2010, he was First Secretary for Development with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in Kabul where he led and managed Canada's support to Afghanistan's basic education and vocational training sectors. Following his service, he was awarded the Queen's Operational Service Medal (South West Asia) from the Government of Canada for his contributions. Prior to this, Chris represented Canada in the United Nations as the Canadian Focal Point, Chief Adviser and Bureau Vice-President to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification and land degradation.
Chris is passionate about international and community volunteering, having served as a Cuso Volunteer in Tanzania overseeing a national birth registration initiative and serving on the boards of various local organizations including the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO). He is an animal appreciator and enjoys adventure travel, playing percussion, and learning languages.
