John Henry King joined the services of IICA in 2006 with responsibility for the implementation and execution of IICA projects and programs, and the coordination of technical cooperation activities in the Office in Suriname. 

Prior to his appointment, Mr. King held a number of leadership positions in the capacity of Researcher, Chief Executive, Deputy Director of Rice Operations and General Manager.  His tenure ranged from Statutory Bodies to institutions such as the Foundation for the Development of Mechanized Agriculture, the largest rice estate in Suriname made up of 20 thousand hectors; the Agricultural Rice Company, Nji Sri Ltd, and the largest Banana estate, Surland N. V. 

His job roles covered responsibilities such as manager of operations, human resources, financial and physical resources, designing and supervising the construction of processing plants, establishing export markets, diversification, restructuring and rehabilitation; and community development. 

Mr. King’s qualifications include a Diploma in Agriculture and Rural Development, a Master of Science program in Agriculture and Rural Development from the University of the West Indies, and Licentiates in Agriculture from the University of Suriname, Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Mr. King assumed the position of IICA Representative to the ECS Countries, in January 2014, and is responsible for oversight of six (6) islands, namely, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, and St. Kitts and Nevis.
