Gideon Ramtahal is a highly motivated Research Scientist at the Cocoa Research Centre in Trinidad and Tobago. Holding a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry and with more than 15 years experience, he has devoted his career to improving agricultural and environmental quality, with a specific focus on addressing food contamination. His extensive research, both locally and internationally, revolves around comprehending and formulating strategic approaches to mitigate heavy metal contamination in cocoa. He has authored and co-authored several impactful peer-reviewed publications and actively participates in conferences, presenting research findings on topics such as cadmium mitigation in cocoa and its implications on food safety and marketability. Dr. Ramtahal's commitment also extends beyond research, as he prioritizes a student-centric approach, dedicating his time to promoting scientific learning and effective communication in the field of science education at The University of the West Indies.
